KARMADITYA BALDOTA

Karmaditya Baldota is a young artist, who explores multiple mediums to express his creativity. His repertoire ranges from the classic oil on canvas to rare techniques like X-Ray Art, and from climate change and wildlife photography to sculptures in metal.

Karmaditya's mind is a complex tapestry shaped by his exposure to global art and travels to various endangered geographies. He has experienced Guggenheim to Galapagos, the MET to Maasai Mara, and from the Stedelijk to Serengeti.

The Baldota family is an art-loving family and Karmaditya was exposed to some of the finest works of renowned artists during his visits to museums around the world. While the museums made deep impressions in this young artist, what truly excited his spirit were the visits to small galleries and new-age progressive art which was conceptual, playful, and challenged the boundaries of aesthetics and mediums. Like every teenager he wanted to shatter the confines of legacy and create a new visual language which has deeper meaning for his generation.

Today, Karmaditya is known to skilfully weave art, concepts, causes, and technology to create works that stop you in your tracks and force you to engage with them. It is no surprise that his works attract a whole new young generation to art galleries and exhibitions.

Karmaditya held his first solo exhibition at NCPA-Piramal Art Gallery in Mumbai in 2018. Titled Antarclicka, the exhibition turned out to be a roaring success. Through evocative photographs, Karmaditya illustrated the truth of global warming and the looming environmental challenges that affect one of the most beautiful parts of Mother Earth, Antarctica.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. Adrian Hayes - a British record-breaking adventurer, author, speaker, consultant & coach, documentary presenter and sustainability campaigner. The print and electronic media widely covered the exhibition and a lot of artists, art enthusiasts, nature lovers, and school students visited the display. The proceeds of this exhibition were donated to Maharashtra Dyslexia Association and Enactus.

While all of us are conditioned to appreciate outer beauty, Karmaditya truly looks for beauty within his subjects. Be it a flower, a car or humans. This led him to pursue X-ray Art. He experimented with the medium and his second solo exhibition was held at the Nehru Centre Art Gallery, Mumbai, in 2022. Titled 'Xposure - The Art of Looking at Things Inside Out', the exhibition was inaugurated by Mrs. Sangita Jindal, Founder - ART India Magazine and Chairperson - JSW Foundation. Mr. Shekhar Naik, former captain of the National Blind Cricket Team, and Mrs. Mala Goenka, the Hon. Secretary and Trustee of Victoria Memorial School for the Blind, were guests at the well-attended exhibition which showcased a wide range of subjects. Injecting colours into the skeletal frameworks of nature and everyday objects, Karmaditya evoked an array of emotions amongst the viewers.

His workmanship didn't just challenge the visual imagination of the audiences, but it also confronted their thoughts about the society. Art veterans, lovers, and enthusiasts, all had praises for the acumen with which Karmaditya detailed his artworks. All proceeds of the exhibition were donated to the Victoria Memorial School for the Blind.

When not creating art, Karmaditya is either busy go-karting, trekking, skydiving, having fun with his three dogs or catching up with friends.
